SMS and Mettop establish PolyMet Solutions

SMS group GmbH, Germany, and Mettop GmbH, Austria, founded the joint venture PolyMet Solutions GmbH, with each company possessing 50 % of the shares. PolyMet Solutions GmbH is an independent company with headquarters in Leoben, Austria. The managing director is Dr. Andreas Filzwieser.

The joint venture will enable SMS group to expand its range of products and services by the planning and supply of plant and equipment for the production of copper, lead, zinc, tin and other non-ferrous metals. PolyMet Solutions will offer innovative processes and solutions for primary concentrate melters, converters (such as Peirce Smith converters) and anode furnaces.
